ELLANSE is an disposable, bioresorbable dermal filler to correct wrinkles and folds by using it into the mid-deep layer of the skin. The treatment has dual benefits of immediate aesthetic correction and long-lasting results by new collagen formation within the delivered area. The result is a youthful and natural appearance. It is delivered into the skin to lift, sculpt and restore lost volume associated with skin aging.
Composition
ELLANSE consists of a unique and patented composition
- 70% Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) based gel
- 30% PolyCaproLactone (PCL) microspheres.
Mode of Action
ELLANSE consists of an aqueous carboxymethylcellulose, with synthetic PolyCaproLactone microspheres in a fixed concentration. 4 products with different polymer chain lengths providing variable levels of longevity and durability. There is Ellanse S, M, L, and E which can last between 1 and 4 years.
The PCL microspheres are perfectly smooth and round and are therefore the best shape to use in dermal fillers. The treatment is carried out in an outpatient environment, using ELLANSE in a variety of ways depending on the specific imperfection you are looking to restore, and included different use techniques e.g. linear tread, fanning technique, cross-hatching with local anesthetic and ELLANSE dermal filler.
When delivered into the skin, Ellansé reverses skin aging with a 2-step process:
- 1. The CMC gel gives immediate lifting and sculpting results. However, the gel only lasts for about 12 weeks.
- 2. At the same time, the PCL microspheres begin to stimulate your skin to produce collagen. The collagen stimulation peaks at 12 weeks to give the final result.
Most Areas Can Be Treated
Ellanse is a very versatile product. On the one hand it is viscous enough to sculpt facial features such as the chin and nose, on the other hand it's moldable to restore volume to the forehead. Ellanse is fantastic to use for the chin because it is so defined, and for the forehead due to its natural, long lasting results.
Ellanse can be used to treat most areas which hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers can treat, including the:
- Temples and Brow area
- Forehead
- Cheeks
- Nasolabial Folds
- Lower Face, Marionette lines
- Nose
- Chin
- Jawline
- Hands
Advantages of Ellansé over HA fillers:
- Ellanse is longer lasting than most HA fillers
- Ellanse is more cost effective in the long term
- Ellanse does not cause delayed hypersensitivity reactions (formation of a granuloma – or hardened lump), which, although rare, can happen with HA fillers
- Because Ellanse works by your own collagen production, it does not migrate. (HA fillers can migrate, in rare instances)
- Ellanse maintains its volume better over time.
- Ellanse gives a better aesthetic result for the nose, chin, and forehead
Possible Side Effects
Ellanse is very safe, and most side effects are use related – mild swelling, bruising and soreness. These are temporary and will resolve with no issues.
Severe side effects of Ellanse are similar to other disposable fillers – necrosis (death of skin) and blindness. These are extremely rare and can be minimized with good doctor technique.
